Integrating passions: histories of soccer, identity formation and social inclusion of Italian migrants in Australia Print E-mail

Jointly conducted by The University of the Sunshine Coast and The Victoria University, the integrating passions project aims to deepen our understanding of the role sport can play in the lives of migrants as they seek to integrate into Australian society while maintaining their connections to their homeland. In particular, the research aims to explore the key role soccer has played in both assisting, and at times possibly limiting, the social inclusion of Italian migrants to Australia.

We are looking for Italian migrants and children of Italian migrants who came to Australia in the 1950s and 1960s, who live in Sydney, are passionate about soccer and played or supported local Australian soccer teams.
As part of the research we would like to ask migrants and their children to participate in an interview, about an hour in length.
