Assistance for project on musicians from Lucania in Carlton The Italian Historical Society / Museo Italiano is assisting on a project on musicians from Lucania who settled in Carlton. We believe this is an excellent opportunity to showcase a remarkable Italian Australian community. Here are the details supplied by the researcher. Does your family have an amazing story to tell? Have your ancestors played a part in Australia’s hidden history? WTFN Entertainment are in production of a new history series for the History Channel, to be hosted by Tony Robinson, star of Time Team, The Worst Jobs in History, and Blackadder. Called 'Tony Robinson's Time Walks', this series traces the hidden histories of various districts and towns around Australia, telling the untold stories that make up the suburb's histories. We are filming an episode on CARLTON and would like to include a story on the traditional musicians from Lucania who emigrated pre-1900 and settled in Carlton. If you: - Live in Carlton - Are a descendent of one of these musician families who lived in Carlton - Have any photos, musical instruments or historical documents about your ancestors - Can tell us a little about how your family came out to Melbourne, their music, and their life. We would love to speak with you! If you only tick a couple of those boxes, please get in touch too. We're interested in also hearing from: - anyone who owns / makes the traditional instruments (old or new) - anyone who plays the traditional style of music today; - experts in this style of music or in the story of these people.
